What’s on at this Saturday’s market? 9am – 12 noon

Every Saturday – 9am to 12 noon – The Village Hall, Henley Road, Sandford-on-Thames

This Saturday is our special Halloween pumpkin-carving market – part of the Oxford Pumpkin Festival (if you thought there was a festival for everything – now you know there is!). Sandford Young People’s Group will have a stall laden with pumpkins and will be offering you the chance to really spook out the neighbours with some ghoulish designs. They’ll be asking for money for each pumpkin to cover the cost and raise some funds for their group. And remember – a pumpkin can be a meal too! Here are some great recipe ideas (http://www.goodfoodoxford.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Hubbub-Pumpkin-Recipe-Book1.pdf) for how to use up the flesh. As for the seeds try roasting them in the oven with salt and chilli flakes for a tasty snack. Check out some of the other events as part of this year’s festival here (http://goodfoodoxford.org/oxford-pumpkin-festival/) .

This is Spoke Shop’s last session of the year – so its the last chance for quite a while to get your bike checked over and running well for winter conditions. Or if you plan to hibernate your bike, make sure it is put away in good condition so it’s ready for you as soon as spring springs! Their top tip: if you are going to put your bike in the shed for winter, remember to keep the tyres pumped up. Flat tyres will perish if left unattended all winter.

Beyond pumpkins and bikes – we’ve got a great mix of stalls this week. Have a look below for what else we have on offer – including those wonderful Ashtrees vegetables. And remember to bring boxes for your eggs – you can save yourself 10p by bringing your own! We get them cheaper by not having boxes – and we want to pass this onto you.

This week’s guest stalls:

Ashtrees Farm – Lots of lovely autumn veg – people have been raving about the taste – and not expensive. We did a comparison and most came up cheaper or equivalent to supermarket prices.

Honor’s Cakes – Fantastic cakes and the proceeds go to charity
Steppin Stones – Jams and chutneys made with fruit from the homelessness charity’s allotments and orchards
Simply Foods – Tasty Filipino empanadas and steamed dumplings
Spoke Shop – Sandford’s own volunteer-run bike repair service
Jayne Moore – Upcycled lavender bags and handmade cards

Available every week:

Our Market Café serving the best bacon and egg bap around, pastries, DIY toast, fresh coffee, teas and juice.
