This week is an incredibly sad one. On Saturday morning, Pauline Rudman, a very dear friend to so many of us, died suddenly at home. Pauline joined the steering group of Talking Shop when a few of us first went door to door in late 2010 and from that point was one of the people at the very heart of what we’ve grown together in this project. Over the years she drew the most wonderful café team around her and together they have been bringing us legendary bacon sandwiches with a hugely generous welcome since April 2011.
She led the café team almost every Saturday with her contagious happy smile. She was always interested, she had time for everyone, young and old and she became an important part of life for very many of us. She was much loved and she is already very much missed.
We’d like to be able to share with Pauline’s family how much she brought to people through Talking Shop. On Saturday at the market we will have a book so that everyone who wants to can pass on their stories and memories of Pauline to her family.
With their consent we have also paid tribute to Pauline on our Facebook page, please add your thoughts and wishes there too.
Maria of Make, Do & Mend will be with us on Saturday. We’ll have cakes from Sandford’s wonderful bakers and as ever we will have some of the great produce made and grown on our doorsteps.
We will be restarting our second hand book stall too, all book donations very warmly welcomed.
Join us in celebrating Pauline on Saturday, and what she gave to Talking Shop and all of us.
